Vila Senhora Da Rocha

The beautifully maintained resort of Vila Senhora Da Rocha has been established for some twenty four years. With its spacious gardens and consideration for privacy it has managed to create a comfortable relaxed feeling getting away from the traditional “complex style”. It has three swimming pools, one of which is covered and heated all year, there is also a small paddling pool for infants.The three tennis courts have recently been resurfaced and newly equipped. There is an excellent reasonably priced poolside bar/restaurant serving a good variety of snacks and meals, popular in the early evening. Another restaurant and bar are also situated on the complex. A small supermarket and “padaria” caters for all essential grocery items and all kinds of bread, croissants, cakes and specialities of Portugal. Vila Senhora Da Rocha is essentially a place for a peaceful relaxing holiday but with all the facilities of often more crowded complexes. The experienced and helpful staff on the reception desk are able to assist with any queries or problems, most of them have been with the company for many years and all speak at least three languages including excellent English and German. Portugal is famous for its beautiful beaches and Vila Senhora Da Rocha has its own, although not exclusive, situated a short distance from the swimming pools. The beach can be reached by steps directly from the grounds, there is a tunnel through the cliff leading to the next bay which has it’s own beach bar. Vila Senhora Da Rocha takes its name from the Chapel of Nossa Senhora Da Rocha which stands on the cliff a short distance from the entrance to the resort. The origins of this pretty chapel are uncertain but what is known is that it was built with stones from ruins of Roman origin and that long ago it was an important place of pilgrimage, attracting the devout from distant lands. The Chapel of Nossa Senhora Da Rocha is famous throughout the Algarve, owing to its unusually wonderful setting on the promontory which juts out into the sea flanked on both sides by two glorious sandy beaches.
